GOG has operated independently of other organisations since September 2013, and was registered in May 2015 as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We have a small management committee of (mainly) older people with professional experience of business, counselling, public policy and services for older people. Several members remain actively involved in voluntary and professional work with older people in Church and other organisations.
Our funding has come from various sources including The Society of the Sacred Heart (2015-2018), Catholic Care Leeds (2010-2013 and 2020 – 2023), Porticus Trust (2009-10), The Charity of St Paul the Apostle, The Ladies of the Grail, other religious orders, anonymous individual donors, and donations from people attending our events.

Our Strategy
The Growing old Gracefully (GOG) Strategic Plan 2021-2026 underlines our commitment to reframing the narrative surrounding ageing in the Church, from a perception of decline to an understanding of continued spiritual journey and growth. Drawing from the wise words of Pope Francis and the transformative demographic shifts occurring in British society, we strive to better support our parishes in becoming more inclusive of later life stages. Our Strategic Plan emphasises the need for adaptive measures and increased support for the diversity and individual spiritual needs within our ageing population. Built on a foundation of diligent research and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, our plan outlines initiatives and resources necessary to better serve our community. As we move forward, we seek to offer structured and coordinated support that acknowledges the diversity of later life, affirms the spiritual work of ageing, and fosters a sense of belonging among our older parishioners.

We will not tolerate the abuse of adults at risk in any of its forms.
